Our Culture
H&R Block began with two brothers rolling up their sleeves and helping
folks with their tax returns. Despite our tremendous growth, we've never
lost sight of the key factors that led to our success, including superior
customer service, a commitment to stand behind our work and a promise
to always charge a fair price.
We believe in the power of partnership and the open exchange of ideas.
After all, if one of our first clients hadn't suggested we advertise our
tax services, we might not be where we are today. It's this kind of active
listening and observing that enables us to continue evolving and providing
clients with unbeatable service.
While we're proud of our humble heritage, our eye is on the future.
In August 2000, we unveiled a fresh, new logo to symbolize our transformation
from a tax preparation company to a financial partner. From this new business
strategy emerged an even more progressive and innovative corporate culture.
In fact, it was this culture that earned H&R Block the 2001 Pride
in Excellence Employer of the Year Award from Project Equality, a national
equal employment opportunity organization and premier champion of workplace
diversity. This award recognized our efforts to achieve equal employment
opportunity and diversity, the establishment of our Service Center facility
in Kansas City's Brush Creek redevelopment neighborhood and our commitment
to equal employment.
