Charles Elliott (C.E.) Andrews, President, RSM McGladrey
Charles Elliott (C.E.) Andrews is president of RSM McGladrey and is responsible for advancing the company’s brand, talent and share of the middle market, while maintaining the company’s profitable growth.

Andrews joined RSM McGladrey after most recently serving as President of SLM Corp. (Sallie Mae) following a 29-year career with Arthur Andersen. At Sallie Mae, he served from 2003-2008 first as Executive Vice President of accounting and risk management, and later as Chief Financial Officer, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Andrews began his career with Arthur Andersen in 1974 and became a partner in 1984. He held positions of increasing responsibilities within the firm, including key leadership roles in the metropolitan Washington D.C. office, the Mid-Atlantic Market Circle, the Southeast region, the United States National Practice and, ultimately, Arthur Andersen Global.

He managed all lines of business at Andersen, including audit, tax and consulting, before being named head of the Worldwide Audit and Business Advisory Practice in 2001. His office, market circle and region were top performers annually in terms of quality, growth and profitability within Arthur Andersen and among competitors. After Andersen ceased performing professional services in 2002, Andrews remained with the firm to assist with its orderly and successful dissolution.

Andrews currently serves on the advisory board of Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business. He is active in his community and is particularly involved with Junior Achievement. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech.
