This unique commitment to small business originated more than 50 years ago when Henry Bloch came across a simple printed pamphlet in the library as a college student at the Harvard Business School.
The pamphlet was a copy of a speech a Harvard professor had given, detailing how small business was "the backbone of this country." The speech went on to say, "The future would be in helping small businesses."
From that moment on, helping small businesses grow and prosper became the heart and soul of a company that would soon become one of the most successful financial services companies in the world.
