  1. Visit the Michigan refund status website.
  2. Michigan taxpayers may also call 1-517-636-4486 to get a Michigan income tax refund status via telephone.

In order to get your state refund status information, you will be prompted to provide:

  • Social Security number (SSN)
  • Primary Filer’s Last Name
  • Tax year
  • Filing status
  • Adjusted Gross Income (AGI)* or Total Household Resources (THR)

*Adjusted Gross Income is found on line 10 of your MI-1040 on your state of Michigan taxes. Total Household Resources are found on line 33 of your MI-1040CR, line 32 of your MI-1040CR-2 or line 37 of your MI-1040CR-7.

  • For e-filed returns: Allow three to four weeks from the date you received confirmation that your e-filed state tax return was accepted before checking for refund status information.
  • For paper- returns: Allow six to eight weeks before checking for information about your MI refund.
